Page does have a save() method on it, this is what the admin uses, but you basically have to create a page and set all the bits on it first, then call the save. I suggest digging into the admin plug

I'd say, install the Blog Site skeleton separately, and take a look at how it's set up. You then can try importing the pages in your own site. There's nothing more than adding this folder to your site
