Anyone using the Cardstack theme?

I have not been able to get this theme to work. When I install it I just see the spinning 'hourglass' icon on the main page. Adding content does not appear on the main page, either.

I really like the filterable portfolio layout of the theme. I also noticed the /blog page is similar, only without the ability to filter. Is it possible to add filters and build a page like /blog?
