Requested URL /admin not found

After initial setup on a Debian 8 server with Apache (did initial testing on XAMPP locally) and fixing the missing GD and Curl modules messages, I get the error specified in the title.
Already checked permissions and even tried with 777, but that makes no difference.
Also the default .htaccess file is present.

Any clues?

Never mind.... I accidentally downloaded the empty core version without any skeleton. ;o|
