What is the best way to back up a Grav site?

I have a small Grav site with a handful of plugins and I want a simple backup routine. Is copying the user/ folder enough, or should I be using bin/grav backup? How do you all handle scheduled backups?

Maybe @admin can settle this — is bin/grav backup the blessed way, or is rsyncing user/ just as good in practice?

I run bin/grav backup from a nightly cron and rotate the archives weekly. Copying user/ works too, but the backup command also grabs your config and skips the cache folders for you.
